WORKING ON BEHALF OF INVESTORS

The majority of securities disputes between investors and brokerage firms are resolved in arbitration. Failure to comply with the securities laws increases the risk of lawsuits by the investors – and can even lead to criminal prosecution. When an investment fails, it's usually because of normal, unpredictable market forces. But sometimes, more is at play. If a broker violates the profession's standards that broker must be held responsible. For a broker unjustly accused of wrongdoing, such accusations require a strong defense.

At the Stanzler Law Group, Melinda Jane Steuer is our securities litigations and arbitration specialist. She has spent her entire legal career working on behalf of investors from all walks of life, litigating and resolving disputes with their financial advisors. Ms. Steuer has handled all aspects of securities litigation and arbitration on a wide range of issues including fraud, early retirements, unsuitable/inappropriate investment advice, excessive trading, and failure to supervise.

Ms. Steuer has litigated cases involving early retirement cash-outs, variable annuities, stocks, bonds, mutual funds, options, real estate limited partnerships, and variable life insurance.  For ten years, Ms. Steuer served as the sole associate for Howard M. Hoffman, attorney for the plaintiff in the landmark California securities case of Duffy v. Cavalier. Ms. Steuer was co-counsel in multiple arbitrations and cases yielding seven figure awards/settlements to represented investors.
